I have been apart of the family(A Student) at nova a little over five years and i have smoked the whole time and i have seen, a number of times, students who give so much shit to the "nova smokers" one week and the next week there asking for a extra cigarettes. I also have seen students (like me) who have heen smoking long befor they even heard of nova and do so because its just apart of there everyday life, like breathing or eating. I have had student think i started because of nova and that to me would be the stupidest thing i could do, start smoking to "be cool" or "fit in" at my high school. come on, get real!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Take it from someone who has been hugely addicted for a little over 8 years now sence i started at the age of 12 years old, IF YOU DONT SMOKE, DONT START TO FIT IN, DONT BE STUUUUUUUUUUUUUUPPPPPIIIIIIIIDDDDDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -Sammy Stewart-

To answer gigglepoof -- peer pressure and desire to fit in are the two most common reasons people say they started smoking.

The Nova smoking policy has never made sense to me compared to the various other health-related and socially conscious things Nova constantly encourages, like vegetarian eating and recycling. Smoking isn't just a matter of what you put into your own body. For one thing, it costs non-smokers billions of dollars a year because people who smoke have more health problems and make more insurance claims, which makes everybody's insurance cost more. It's not a question of what you have the right to put in your own body. If we're going to encourage social responsibility and intelligent behavior we should discourage smoking, because it's neither one.

Please note that this is an older version of my rating system that I no longer use. The "Gameplay" and "Value" ratings are now defunct, and the scoring system is now four stars rather than five. After reading more of the magazine, I can safely say that it's a mixed bag in terms of quality. Some of the writers are not all that good, and think they're way smarter than they actually are. These writers sometimes write articles claiming ties between things that are in no way related. These writers are more than likely the ones brought over from BitMob, which is similarly a mixed bag.

My opinions have changed since writing this article, but I see no point in editing it. Nowadays I only listen to The Joystiq Podcast, and the Giant Bombcast. I unsubscribed from the Sarcastic Gamer podcasts because the hosts are kind of... well, stupid. I unsubscribed from TalkRadar because of it's overlong nature, and I unsubscribed from The Hotspot because the hosts just aren't very interesting.

While I agree with you on the creepyness of furry porn (the very thought makes me shudder and want to puke) I do like sonic the hedgehog, I respect your opinion and I will now simply state mine. While I am not a major fan, I do like the characters and some of the games, the fans complaining about things is stupid, if you don't like it, don't play it. Sonic is more of a kids thing anyway, 10 year olds love it and love the corny characters they come up with, I don't mind the character, the company however is trying too hard and needs to come up with origional ideas instead of copying off of mario (sonic karts? what idiot came up with that?), my 9 year old step brother loves it, I love it too, I mean I love the origional spyro games and spongebob, I just have kiddy likes. I do not see what's so amazing about C.O.D its boring and you do nothing but kill people, shoot things and while they might love C.O.D and hate sonic others love Sonic and hate C.O.D, it's a matter of opinion. As for fanfiction, people who actually have an interest in writting and have thought abut getting their origional work published such as myself who read fanfiction do not pay attention to the story and nothing else, we pay attention to the writters style, grammar (which I admit I need to improve), how they've pieced the story together and how well they write, they want people to pay attention to this in their work aswell, keeping characters IN CHARACTER is difficult and is an enjoyable challenge and does improve ones writting skills, fanfiction for fans of literature is simply help to develop their writting skills, this is why we love reviews that instead of saying 'omg awesome' give us creative critisism, such as, 'I enjoyed this but this, this and this need to be fixed up and worked on and you spelt this word wrong,'

Sonic unleashed, while the night levels were arduous and the story line cliche, the day stages were very good and fun, and I will continue to play it.

I want to know what's going on in the Nova community, and I want that to be the main focus of the site. I want it to be a discussion place for Nova students about what's going on in the school. Maybe the site needs better promotions? WHY DOES NO ONE USE THE LOUDSPEAKER ANYMORE? Jeez that should be an article.

Highly recommend IGNs podcasts. The editors are consitently clever and fun to listen to. I far prefer them to other gaming podcasts I've heard. Particularly GameScoop! And Podcast Beyond.

Nice job Dakota ! - I think that Nova's Language Arts Department is amazing and we have to do all we can to preserve it. There is a group of students, teachers and parents meeting every Thursday in my room (room 47) at 8Am to come up with a way to continue to do our LA classes the way we believe works best for our students and convince the Seattle School District that we are already aligned with very high standards and achievement. Someone "little" loses, even when you steal from a big company instead of a smaller store. Some job gets cut somewhere when theft creates losses. It could be someone who can afford to lose their job less than you can afford to pay for tasty chicken.

Aye, but one criticism a lot of people have suggested is tracking.

If the school district were to assign orca cards, they would potentially be able to set which routes you can use, and find out where you are.

Because you have to 'tag' your orca card at any station or bus entry, they would be able to pull up where you have been and how you got there.

I know that Melissa really hates having to spend all her time in there with so many noisy kids.

This whole lounge thing already happened a few years back, and getting rid of it really turned out to be a good idea.

I relaxed lounge sounds awesome, something more akin to the 'quiet room' we had last year (I miss that!)

Kids tend to listen to me when I talk to them about PDA, and I guess there's extra responsibility on the students who are close enough to the people causing the problems that they'll be listened to.

So if you're one of the kids in this position, help out the school. Talk to your friends.

Also the Library is already a really good study space.
